If anyone knows maybe they could help me (Jen S. perhaps?), but I have no idea whether I spent the afternoon and evening yesterday in the South or in the Midwest.  Louisville sits on the Ohio River which constitutes the border between Kentucky and Indiana.  I’ve always been under the impression that Kentucky is in “The South,” and that Indiana is a “Midwestern” state.  I’m not so sure anymore, and I’m not so sure the people that live there know either.  Actually… I asked.  They don’t.  I suppose that just means that it’s vague and you can’t delineate cultural boundaries like that, but that still makes for a strange impression.  …but anyhow, I’m leaning toward “Southern” as a label for the region.  I think when someone put the song “Honky-tonk Badonkadonk” on the jukebox at the Waffle House this morning, thinking it was a wise choice for breakfast accompaniment, that’s pretty much what sealed the deal for me.

Anyhow, Louisville and the neighboring area in Indiana is a pretty sweet location, despite the ambiguous cultural identity.  I got into town around 4 and met up with my good buddy Erynn.  She gave me a personalized guided tour, by car, of the Louisville area.  Then, we caught a movie in (I think it was) New Albany, IN.  Memoirs of a Geisha.  It was good.  Then we hung out at her house for a bit with her roommates, and watched some old Pete and Pete episodes on DVD.  Classic. ...Later on we headed into town (downtown Louisville, that is) to a pretty cool bar where a friend of Erynn’s was DJ-ing.  I forget the name of the bar already.  (I should really just take my laptop everywhere with me so I won’t need to remember anything on my own, ever again.)  Finally, we headed to this dive bar for some ping pong.  All in all, an excellent evening, which I finished up falling asleep to (not Ultimate Fighting this time [see Day 1], but) some Daft Punk anime DVD with aliens in a band who get transported to Earth and are brainwashed into thinking they’re still playing for their die-hard alien fans, when in fact they’re simply playing to masses of plain old humans that become enthralled by the band’s strange, other-worldly sounds.  Totally normal.  (Incidentally, I want to see the DVD in full sometime ‘cause it was actually pretty sick)…

And now, some photos from Day 5:

Anyhow, that was yesterday, Day 5. I headed out this morning from Louisville and made my way here, to St. Louis. I'm planning on heading into the city to catch some music tonight, so stay tuned! (I'm doing everything I can to keep you folks on the edge of your seat. Gimme a break, ok?)

If you don't dig my site, maybe this will be a better use of your time.

One last thing: You know Clark of Lewis and Clark? Well, I know Lewis' first name is Meriwether, but for the life of me I couldn't remember Clark's first name. It was KILLING me! Check out what it is here
